The Fraser factory has been back in action after we all had a great summer break. Here’s a bit of a rundown of some of the interesting work going through the shop currently.
Geoff’s BMW 2002 restomod has been making great progress over the last month. Bruce has fabricated and installed a new sheet metal tunnel. This is quite a drastic change in the interior as we have gone for a much taller tunnel which incorporates the inner seat mounts, handbrake, exhaust and service tunnels. Although it looks very imposing currently, once the seats are installed, it largely disappears and gives us so much more room to work with! Next stop is fitting new front floors to get rid of some rust and the making up a new firewall.
Don has dropped off his wife’s 1946 Ford Pickup for a power steer conversion. This cool old truck has been previously modified to accept a Holden HQ front clip so we are grafting a modified Isuzu steering box into the chassis and setting up all the associated parts that it requires to make it all work. This should make the car much easier to drive and should hopefully become a daily driver!
Stuart’s Jaguar XK140 has been coming along nicely, we are currently waiting on part to arrive so we can restore the suspension as a lot of the joints are pretty tired which is not bad considering it is nearly 70 years old. As this car has had a a RHD conversion done previously, it is up to us to provide proof that the parts used are not illegally modified and in such a rare car this can be challenging to say the least! But he has brought it to the right place, we will figure it out somehow or other!
Peter’s KE25 Corolla has been sitting patiently under a cover since having its new engine tuned late last year, all the new exhaust and various other parts have been off getting coated and they have just started arriving back ready for install. We are excited to be entering this car in the Modified section of the Ellerslie Concours on the 9th of February. Come and have a look at it, we are all super proud of what we have produced.
Alun’s Cobra replica has just come back from the dyno after we installed a sweet EFI 8 stack into it. Making a respectable 430hp at the wheels and oodles of torque, we suspect it may be up for some new rear tyres before too long.
The infamous DMOFSR2 has had a bit of a push recently! 10+ years in the making, we have finally pulled the cover off and made the decision to finish it. This car is powered by a Toyota 2ZZ 1800cc engine and looks pretty slick in grey and red. The wiring is nearly complete and hopefully should make some noise in the not too distant future. This car may be up for sale as a little bird told me something else might be in the pipeline…
Just before Xmas we sold a Fraser to a company in Arrowtown who are using it as a door prize for their upcoming show called “Ayrburn Classic Festival of Motoring”. This is pretty exciting for us and we will be exhibiting at the show in March. They are emulating Pebble Beach for those in the know and their aim is to make this show the Motoring highlight of the year. We are stoked to be part of such an exciting event and what could be cooler than giving away a Fraser to some lucky sod! Check it out here Ayrburn Classic Festival of Motoring, and if you’re in the neighbourhood come and say hi.
The temperature in the workshop is cranking at the moment so that must mean it is prime Frasering weather, so get out there and enjoy!
