And just like that it is December! The factory has been a busy place with most of the guys preparing components for the next two Frasers that are due to start production mid December. Both are Honda F20c powered Fraser Clubman S, one destined for David in Nelson and one making its home with Wayne in Hamilton. We are pretty proud of our package these days, gone are the days of hunting around for second hand parts from wreckers yards and spending your weekends on endless trips to the bolt shop. We supply a complete package with everything you need to assemble the car included. A delivery schedule of parts arrives spread out over the agreed build time of one, two or three years, and it is delivered in the order in which you need to install them into the car. We have been running this over the last few builds and had great feedback from customers. It also means that we know in advance when the parts will need to be delivered so no more waiting around if we are out of stock. We look forward to watching these two cars progress over the next few years and welcome David and Wayne into the Fraser family.
In other news… Chris has had his 2003 Caterham in our shop to get it road legal. This has been a “well loved” race car out of the UK. While in reasonable condition, the trained eye will pick up various repairs done to the car over the years. Most of these repairs are done well by a reputable company, so they shouldn’t be a problem, lots of stripping back of all the body panels has been required to ensure that there are no hidden surprises. Powered by a Rover K series engine and being bright green, it certainly stands out! The process is well underway and we look forward to getting the tick at the end so it can get out on the road and be enjoyed.
A Fraser that had fallen off the radar has reemerged after resting under a cover for the last 5 or so years. Stu bought his kit back in 2010 when we all had a bit more hair. It was shipped to Australia for assembly, Stu then began a myriad of different jobs in different places, dragging his Fraser with him everywhere he went, eventually ending up back in NZ. It definitely takes the award for the Fraser with the most air miles! It is powered by an Altezza 3SGE with lots of go fast goodies like a dry sump system, throttle bodies and big brakes. Fraser Cars spent a lot of time on it a while back getting it wired, tuned and trimmed before Stu was once more off around the world and the Fraser went into storage. It is back in the workshop for the final push to get road legal this time. We are aiming to achieve this early next year and it will be great to finally see it being used.
Paul’s KE25 Corolla has been making progress. When Mr Toyota designed it, he did not leave room for the master cylinders now that we have fitted a 4AGE. A thoughtless oversight I think but we have come up with a solution – fitting a reverse hung pedal box up under the dash to get all the master cylinders inside the car, leaving a nice clean firewall. Your welcome Mr Toyota – your invoice is in the mail! Not far to go on this before stripping down for paint, just fabricate the exhaust, finalise a few brackets on the diff housing and test fit the suspension.
From all the team at Fraser Cars, we wish you a merry Christmas and good riddance to 2021, may we never hear from you again!
