Rosie and I are keen to blow a few cob webs off Merlow, so have decided to do a trip around the Coromandel Peninsula on the weekend of Oct 3rd and 4th.
We would love anyone who wants to, to join us.
Here are the intimate details thus far:
Friday Oct 2nd Rosie and I are booked in to the Palm Motel in Waihi (ph; 07 8638461) speak to Rob and mention the Fraser club for the best deal.
We plan on having dinner at the Tandoori Chambers Restaurant, info for those arriving in Waihi a little late.
Saturday Oct 3rd Breakfast at the Banana Pepper Cafe (Recommended by Keith Howie) from 8am. After Breakfast we plan on heading to Thames via Whangamata, this will take approx 1 to 1.30 hrs. Anyone coming down from Auckland may like to meet us there instead of coming thru to Waihi on Friday night.
From Thames we will head up to Coromandel, taking approx 1 hr, If we have enough interest from the group, we would like to take a small diversion up to the Driving
Creek Railway and learn a little about the history of the area. This will also give the senior members of the tour a chance to stretch their legs.
From Coromandel to Tairua is approx 100ks which we should manage in about an hour (nah just kidding, maybe 2)
Saturday night we are booked in to the Tairua Shores Motel (ph; 07 8648520) speak to Glen and once again mention the Fraser club. There are a number of good Restaurants within walking distance, so we can make a decision on the night.
Sunday 4th Oct We would do the short trip to Whangamata (about half an hr) for breakfast, then everyone can say their goodbyes and head off in a home ward direction.
Cheers to you all, and I hope to see lots of you on Friday 2nd Oct in Waihi.
