The Fraser trip to Ardmore
On Sunday we had a fun Club run to Avspecs at Ardmore Aerodrome. With a great turn out – 12 Frasers and an Atom.
Avspecs is an amazing place with some very rare and exotic planes being restored . It is great to see such attention to detail with everything being done to the greatest level of finish. Our host Paul then took 10 Frasers (the rest had other duties to attend to) on a drive from Ardmore through to Kaiaua. With Paul leading the way we had some local knowledge and experienced some superb driving roads. I later found out that some of the roads driven were old Targa stages.
We ended up in Kaiaua at the famous fish and chip shop. There were no parking spaces left in the whole town. We happened to turn up on the day that they hold their local food and wine festival, so there was plenty happening and even a live band.
We enjoyed our food and soaked up some sun, then got back in our cars and headed back to Clevedon via some more fantastic roads. By about 3pm we decided that we had had enough and took the easy route home via the motorway.
All in all a great day out, a fantastic visit, great driving, good food and company. A perfect way to make the most of the final days of Summer. Thanks to Paul and the organisers and we will see you again at the next one.
