Scott – 4AGE Fraser
I had an email from Brett on Wednesday saying that his brother and himself were both entered in a track day at Hampton Downs. My first question was are there any spots left? The answer was yes and I was going.
After a typical Auckland day the weather cleared for our 4:30pm start time. In our session we had only 5 cars - 3 Frasers, a Lotus 2-11 and a Formula Boxer single seater. We had the whole track almost to ourselves. After a first nervous few laps trying to remember where all the corners go we were into it. The track has fantastic features with elevation changes, off camber corners, blind apexes, everything that you could want.
It was great way to spend an afternoon. Unfortunately Hamish's standard MX5 gearbox gave up under the pressure of his turbo charged MX5 engine. I think he realised that it was a matter of time before it happened. Brett takes the prize for the first Fraser to spin on Hampton downs. I take the prize for the slowest Fraser at Hampton Downs so far.
I will be doing it again, I got another email this morning saying that there is another one this Wednesday, who's keen?
I can see us having a lot of fun in the future. A big thank you to Roger for the great photos.
Scott
looking good there Scott, so how much did it cost you? how many laps did you do?
Thanks Simon. I did about an hours worth of laps, so probably about 40 laps. It cost $90. Well worth it!
