A Beautifully crisp and sunny Sunday morning with a gathering at BP southern Motorway…. then the organiser realised he had forgotten about the Weird Hat competition!

Never mind, Scott and Cameron turned up with head appendages but as the rest of us didn’t we will deem Sunday as a practise.  Still some amusing coverings but nothing else was weird.

Paul led us away with a back way from Drury onto the Hunua road where we seemed to cross the same railway many times, then out through Hunua Village, sharp left onto White rd/Sky High Rd to Clevedon.  Nice twisty but very narrow and the darker parts damp but unfortunately we collected a pace car with Learners signs so we reverted to an economy run. But the scenery was great and quite a few of us had never been out in this part of the hood before.

The wait at the intersection at Clevedon Rd turned into a Parade of Americana as many rods, customs and Ships of the Desert passed by. Very impressive. And so on out to Maraetai for a pleasant bite to eat at a beach side cafe. Warm sun, full tide, little breeze,  flat sea,  tiny lapping waves on the sand….. you get the picture.

Great way to spend a sunny winters day.

Cheers
Gary
